Logistics case study: Bordet
Since 1965, the Bordet family company has been designing tools for cabinetmaking, carving and woodturning.. Founded by Georges Bordet, a sculptor by trade, the brand was built on a strong artisanal culture and unique know-how. Today, Bordet comprises three distinct brands: Bordet, Hegner (which markets its products on Leroy Merlin) and a third e-commerce site.
With a small team but growing order volumes, particularly during events such as Black Friday, the company faced major challenges in maintaining its responsiveness and a high level of customer satisfaction.
Problems encountered
Before the implementation of a high-performance logistics solution, Bordet operated in a very traditional way. Stock management was manual: only the warehouse staff knew where the products were located. The first Black Friday was an eye-opener: despite the commercial success, the company found itself logistically overwhelmed.
Order and stock management was based on an ERP system that was not connected to the sales channels, making real-time synchronization impossible. It was not uncommon for two customers to buy the same product at the same time, resulting in dissatisfaction and refunds.
Scaling up was also a headache: how to go from 40 to 500 orders a day without losing efficiency or mobilizing more human resources ? Finally, the cohabitation of three separate entities, with their own e-commerce sites, made it difficult to centralize flows and track inventory and orders globally.
Shippingbo solutions
Bordet’s transformation involved the integration of Shippingbo, an all-in-one SaaS suite combining OMS, WMS and TMS. Right from the initial audit, a reorganization of the physical space was proposed: the physical store was integrated into the virtual warehouse, with unified aisle referencing. The result: simplified navigation and considerable time savings.
Shippingbo’s OMS made it possible to centralize orders from three different sites, with immediate stock synchronization. The risk of overselling has disappeared, as each sale is instantly reflected on all platforms. For warehouse staff, the change has been translucent: whatever the origin of the order (Oxatis, PrestaShop or Leroy Merlin via Hegner), everything arrives in a single WMS, parameterized for complete automation of tasks (preparation, transport, label printing, tracking).
Thanks to the integrated TMS, the company was able to select carriers according to predefined rules and automatically send tracking notifications. Customers quickly receive an e-mail with a tracking number, providing reassurance immediately after purchase. During busy periods, such as Black Friday, Bordet can now handle over 500 orders a day with the same team, stress-free and error-free. In quiet periods, the pace drops to around 30 to 40 orders a day, still with the same team. average shipping time 1.2 to 1.3 days – a particularly short lead time for a very small business.
Shippingbo has also facilitated the integration of new brands. The arrival of Hegner, which sells via Leroy Merlin, required no tool changes. Everything was integrated into the same ecosystem, guaranteeing process consistency and rapid ramp-up.
