SAP S/4HANA users' logistics and transport issues
- The disconnect between the SAP Core Model and e-commerce velocity
SAP’s structured, planned processes have difficulty adapting to the unpredictable, ultra-fast nature of e-commerce orders. This difference in pace creates latencies, risks of errors and a lack of responsiveness to customer expectations.
- The complexity and cost of specific developments
Without standardized connectors, the alternative is to resort to time-consuming, costly and inflexible specific developments (ABAP). Each new marketplace, carrier or business rule becomes a complex technical project to maintain.
- Rigidity in the face of new omnichannel schemes
Implementing agile workflows such as Ship-from-Store or fine orchestration of multi-store orders is a major challenge with standard modules. The rigidity of the environment can hamper innovation and the ability to offer a unified customer experience.
- Lack of real-time operational visibility
SAP indicates that an order needs to be prepared, but does not provide a granular, real-time view of warehouse operations: what is the picking status, what is the error rate, what is the actual preparation time? This lack of visibility prevents the optimization of physical processes.
FAQ - Frequently asked questions
How do you ensure data integrity and consistency with our SAP Core Model?
Data integrity is our top priority. The connector is designed to respect the logic of SAP S/4HANA as a “source of truth”. Synchronization is bidirectional and transactional. Any updates to stock, order status or customer data are orchestrated via controlled flows, ensuring that no information is lost or duplicated. We work with your teams to precisely map data flows and ensure that the solution integrates seamlessly into your existing core model without disrupting it.
Our strategy is to deploy Ship-from-Store. How does the platform orchestrate these flows between SAP, our warehouses and our stores?
Our platform acts as the brain of omnichannel orchestration. When a web order is received, our OMS analyzes its destination and the availability of stock throughout your network (warehouses and stores). Depending on the rules you have defined (proximity, cost, etc.), it allocates the order to the most appropriate stock point. The store then receives the preparation order via a simple interface. Once the order has been dispatched, warehouse stock is updated in real time, and sales and dispatch information is consolidated in SAP S/4HANA for an accurate global view.
We use specific SAP modules such as EWM (Extended Warehouse Management). How does your solution interface with these environments?
Our platform is designed to be flexible. In an environment with SAP EWM, our solution can act in two complementary ways. Either our WMS takes over all warehouse logistics for e-commerce flows, to give them greater agility, while interfacing with EWM for mass inventory management. Either our OMS remains the entry point for all omnichannel orders, orchestrates them and then transmits consolidated preparation orders to SAP EWM, which controls warehouse execution. In both cases, we work with you to define the most appropriate architecture to combine the robustness of your SAP modules with the agility required by your online sales flows.
We manage B2C and B2B flows (distributors, bulk orders). How does the platform differentiate and optimize these two types of shipment?
This is a central issue for high-performance omnichannel logistics, and the platform is designed for this versatility. The system can automatically tag and differentiate orders according to their origin or specific data from SAP. Each flow is then directed to an optimized process: B2C orders are processed for speed and dispatch of individual parcels with express carriers, while B2B orders can trigger a separate workflow. This workflow can include specific preparation steps (palletization, grouping), assignment to specialized freight carriers, and the issuing of customs documents or detailed delivery notes. You benefit from a single platform capable of adapting its processes to the nature of each order, giving you maximum flexibility to manage your entire business without having to multiply tools or create parallel manual processes.
